BMW M Motorsport and BMW M Team RMG have announced the end of their 14-year partnership at the conclusion of the current racing season. This decision brings to a close an era marked by remarkable achievements, including two DTM drivers’ championships and one team title.
Founded in 2012 by Team Principal Stefan Reinhold, Reinhold Motorsport GmbH was established to spearhead BMW M Motorsport’s return to DTM. Over the course of their collaboration, BMW M Team RMG competed in 140 DTM races with the BMW M3 DTM and BMW M4 DTM, securing 19 victories. The team’s most notable accomplishments include DTM drivers’ titles in 2014 and 2016 with Marco Wittmann and a team championship in 2014.
Since 2021, BMW M Team RMG has shifted focus to GT racing, particularly at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, and played a critical role as BMW M Motorsport’s official test team. Their efforts were instrumental in developing the BMW M Hybrid V8, BMW M4 GT3, and BMW M4 GT4 race cars.
The final chapter of this collaboration was punctuated by a podium finish at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring just weeks ago. Gen2K drivers Dan Harper, Max Hesse, and Charles Weerts secured third place with the #72 BMW M4 GT3, capping off the team’s participation with a well-deserved podium finish.

BMW M Team RMG has been an ambitious and reliable partner, significantly contributing to the development of our race cars. The joint title wins in DTM and the recent Nürburgring podium will remain unforgettable. Unfortunately, our plans for the future do not align, so our collaboration will end after this season. I wish the team all the best.”
BMW M Team RMG will continue to fulfill its responsibilities until the end of the year, concluding their successful tenure with BMW M Motorsport on a high note.
