Clean Electric, a leading developer of XFC battery technology for electric vehicles, has unveiled its groundbreaking rapid recharging battery technology, capable of fully charging electric vehicles in under 12 minutes. This significant advancement drastically reduces EV charging times, currently ranging between 60 to 120 minutes, and promises to revolutionize the electric vehicle industry.

The company’s proprietary battery technology utilizes the universal CCS 2 DC charging standards, ensuring compatibility across all EV models and form-factors. The fireproof batteries have been rigorously tested, enduring 3700 rapid charge cycles with only 11% degradation in overall range. Manufacturing operations at Clean Electric’s state-of-the-art facility in Pune are geared to produce up to 1200 battery packs per month.

Clean Electric’s pioneering technology, developed over four years and protected by four granted patents, incorporates several industry-first innovations. These include direct contact liquid cooling (DCLC) for electric four-wheelers and large battery systems, self-contained adaptive active liquid cooling (SCALC) for electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers, and DCLC with integrated cell-to-pack (CTP) architecture. These features ensure intrinsically safe batteries, mitigate thermal runaway risks, and enable rapid charging with enhanced packaging efficiency to boost EV range without additional degradation.

During a live demonstration in Pune, Clean Electric showcased the world’s fastest-charging production electric vehicle. The event featured a 2.2 kWh electric two-wheeler battery and a 12.5 kWh electric three-wheeler battery, both charging from 0-80% State of Charge (SOC) in just 10 minutes using BIS-approved Type 6, Bharat DC-001, and globally accepted CCS 2 DC Public Chargers at a constant 5C charge rate.

Clean Electric, founded in 2020 by Akash Gupta, Abhinav Roy, and Ankit Joshi, develops, manufactures, and supplies advanced energy storage solutions for electric vehicles and grid applications. The company is committed to sustainable innovation and aims to accelerate the transition to green electric mobility.

“This is a revolutionary moment for all of us at Clean Electric,” said Ankit Joshi, Chief Product Officer. “Our proprietary 12-minute charging technology sets a new global standard that will drive the EV industry forward. Committed to sustainability, we strive to democratize rapid charging for EVs, coupled with long battery life, reducing environmental impact and shaping the future of electric vehicles.”
