Hyundai Motor Company clinched the title of 2024 World Performance Car at the World Car Awards, thanks to the IONIQ 5 N high-performance electric vehicle (EV). This is the fourth significant win for the Hyundai IONIQ 5 lineup at the World Car Awards over the past three years. The latest achievement further cements the IONIQ 5 N’s leading position in the market, showcasing its superiority over EV competitors.
The winners of this year’s World Car Awards were announced at a ceremony held during the 2024 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). With consecutive triple victories in 2022 and 2023, Hyundai’s IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 secured accolades in the World Car, World Electric Vehicle, and World Car Design categories.
Launched in July 2023 as Hyundai N’s inaugural electric vehicle, the IONIQ 5 N is an innovation in a new category of performance-oriented EVs. This model works as the initial stride in N’s electrification agenda, blending the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) from the standard IONIQ 5 with N’s motorsport-derived innovations. the IONIQ 5 N maximizes its high-performance attributes by using the insights from N’s electrified ‘Rolling Labs’. Acclaimed by the media as ‘groundbreaking,’ a ‘game-changer,’ and the ‘benchmark’ for high-performance EVs, it clinched Top Gear’s 2023 Car of the Year Award and also set the record for the fastest electric SUV lap time at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, recognized by Germany’s ‘Sport Auto.’
