In a landmark move aimed at advancing electric mobility accessibility, Wolfsburg-based Volkswagen Group Charging (Elli) has opened its extensive European charging network to mobility companies beyond the Volkswagen Group for the first time. This strategic collaboration with SIXT marks a significant milestone in the journey towards sustainable transportation.

CEO of Elli, Giovanni Palazzo, emphasized the importance of this partnership in revolutionizing traditional industry norms and fostering sustainability. “This collaboration with SIXT represents a pivotal step towards making electric mobility more accessible and convenient for everyone,” he stated.

The newly introduced product, SIXT charge, promises to streamline the entire charging experience for users. By integrating Elli’s vast charging infrastructure and innovative digital mobility solutions into the SIXT app, customers can effortlessly access a comprehensive network of charging stations across Europe. Nico Gabriel, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Sixt SE, expressed his commitment to making sustainable mobility more attainable, stating, “Together with our partner Elli, we are dedicated to making sustainable mobility accessible for even more people.”

Initially available in several European countries including Germany, Austria, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg, SIXT charge will gradually expand its reach to encompass additional regions, thereby increasing the accessibility of Elli’s charging network to a wider audience.

Elli’s charging network, which currently boasts over 650,000 charge points across 29 European countries, has experienced significant growth, reflecting the escalating demand for high-quality public charging infrastructure. In response to this trend, Elli has established the Selected Partner Network, comprising esteemed partners such as IONITY Europe, Aral Pulse, Audi charging hubs, Ewiva, and most recently, Zunder ES*ZUN. This curated network aims to offer customers enhanced charging experiences characterized by convenience and reliability.

Giovanni Palazzo highlighted the pivotal role of digital solutions in enhancing customer experience and driving the mobility and energy transition forward. “Our newly established business unit ‘Elli Digital’ is the backbone of our company and plays a key role in driving forward the mobility and energy transition,” he affirmed.
