THDC India Ltd (THDCIL), a government-owned entity, has announced its plans to develop electric vehicle (EV) charging stations along the Char Dham Yatra route in Uttarakhand. This initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions along the route, according to THDCIL’s CMD RK Vishnoi.

The project’s initial phase involves establishing charging stations at 14 locations within the state, as part of an agreement signed with Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam Ltd (GMVN).

The collaborative effort between THDCIL and GMVN seeks to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles on the route, ultimately contributing to reduced pollution.

Both organizations are committed to ensuring the charging stations are operational before the commencement of the Char Dham Yatra next year. This initiative represents a significant step toward providing sustainable and eco-friendly transportation options in Uttarakhand.

THDCIL, based in Rishikesh, manages a portfolio of 10 projects, including hydro, thermal, wind, and solar, with a total capacity of 4,516 MW.
