Tata Power and Assam Government Collaborate to Establish Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure in Guwahati

Tata Power EV Charging Solutions Limited (TPEVCSL), a prominent Tata Power Group Company specializing in EV charging solutions, has formally announced its collaboration with the Assam Government to enhance the electric vehicle ecosystem in Guwahati. Through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Tata Power will deploy 10 advanced EV chargers strategically placed across key locations in the city, including high-traffic areas such as Dispur, as part of the initial pilot program.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Assam’s Hon’ble Transport Minister, Excise & Fisheries Shri. Parimal Suklabaidya, and other distinguished dignitaries, including Mr. Adil Khan (IAS), Secretary Transport to the Govt. of Assam, and Dr. Rabin Kumar (IPS), Commissioner of Transport-Assam. This collaboration aligns with Tata Power’s commitment to promoting sustainable mobility and supports the Assam Government’s vision for eco-friendly transportation solutions.

Shri. Parimal Suklabaidya, the Hon’ble Transport Minister of Assam, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing its potential to improve the lives of Assam’s citizens. “Together with Tata Power, we are advancing sustainability and enhancing the quality of life for the people of Assam. This initiative ensures cleaner and more sustainable transportation, marking a significant improvement in the lives of our citizens,” he stated.

Mr. Virendra Goyal, Head of Business Development (EV Charging) at Tata Power, highlighted the strategic approach in selecting locations for charger deployment. “Tata Power is diligently exploring unique locations for charger deployment, aiming to mitigate range anxiety and drive EV adoption in Assam. Our partnership with the Assam Government reaffirms our commitment to supporting their e-mobility initiatives and contributing to cleaner urban environments,” he commented.

Tata Power’s initiative not only aims to advance modern transportation but also enhance the natural beauty of Guwahati. Tata Power has established itself as a leader in the electric vehicle charging sector, boasting a substantial market share of nearly 60%. Their nationwide network spans over 420 cities and includes more than 59,000 home chargers, 4,800 public and semi-public charging points, and 430 bus charging stations. Tata Power’s continuous expansion efforts underline its steadfast commitment to improving electric vehicle charging accessibility across the nation.
