Ashok Leyland, the prominent Indian commercial vehicle manufacturer and flagship company of the Hinduja Group, has proudly announced securing a monumental order from Tamil Nadu State Transport Undertakings (TN STU’s) for 1,666 buses. This milestone contract stands as the largest Bharat Stage VI (BSVI) order received from State Transport Undertakings, reaffirming Ashok Leyland’s dominant position in the bus industry.
TN STU’s have consistently preferred Ashok Leyland, with over 18,000 of their buses currently operational, constituting more than 90% of their total fleet. The newly ordered buses will be meticulously crafted for superior passenger comfort and will feature the cutting-edge iGen6 BS VI technology, boasting a robust 147 kW (197 hp) H-series engine. This advanced engine is expected to enhance safety, comfort, and significantly reduce the overall cost of ownership.
