BMW has introduced the iX1 electric SUV in India with a starting price of ₹66.90 lakh (ex-showroom). This launch makes the BMW X1 the first luxury car model in India to offer petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains. The iX1 will be sold in India as a completely built unit (CBU) and is available for booking on BMW’s official website, with deliveries starting in October 2023.
The BMW iX1 is equipped with xDrive all-wheel drive technology and boasts a range of up to 440 km on a single charge. It features the fifth-generation eDrive technology, enabling rapid acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.6 seconds. The EV is powered by a 66.4 kWh battery pack coupled with dual electric motors, providing power to all four wheels through an AWD system. The iX1 can reach a top speed of 180 kmph and delivers 308 bhp peak power and 494 Nm of maximum torque.
Charging the iX1 is convenient with fast-charging technology. Using a 130 kW DC fast charger, the battery can go from 10% to 80% charge in just 20 minutes, offering a 120-kilometer range with a 10-minute charge. An 11 kW AC charger fully charges the battery in approximately 6.3 hours.
The BMW iX1 comes with a standard two-year warranty with unlimited kilometers and an eight-year or up to 160,000 kilometers warranty for the battery pack. Its design features a bold and muscular appearance, distinguishing it from traditional X1 models. The vehicle includes adaptive LED headlights, square wheel arches, 18-inch M light alloy wheels, a large rear surface diffuser, and L-shaped LED taillights.
