The Uttar Pradesh government has outlined the conditions for availing subsidies on electric vehicle purchases as part of the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy, 2022.
Individuals who have purchased electric vehicles in the state subsequent to October 14, 2022, will be required to apply through the web portal upevsubsidy.in to avail of the government subsidy. The Purchase Subsidy Promotion Scheme will be effective from October 14, 2022, to October 13, 2023, and eligible applicants must apply within this timeframe to be eligible for the subsidy.
The subsidy distribution will follow the policy’s guidelines, providing a 15% subsidy on the factory price of e-vehicles purchased in the state. For instance, the first two lakh 2-wheeler electric vehicles will receive a subsidy of Rs 5,000 per vehicle, and the first 25,000 four-wheeler electric vehicles will get a subsidy of Rs 1 lakh per vehicle. Similarly, the initial 400 non-government e-buses purchased in the state will receive a subsidy of Rs 20 lakh per vehicle.
Furthermore, up to 10% of the factory cost will be permitted as a subsidy on e-goods carriers. The first 1000 e-goods carriers purchased will receive a subsidy of Rs 1 lakh per vehicle.
Individual buyers can avail of the purchase subsidy for only one two-wheeler, four-wheeler, e-bus, or e-goods carrier, while aggregators and fleet operators can receive subsidies for a maximum of 10 two-wheelers or four-wheelers and 5 electric buses or e-goods carriers. Each buyer is eligible for the subsidy only once during the scheme’s effective period.
