VoltUp to partner with BPCL in setting up 650 battery swapping stations and more than 7,800 charging points across 50 cities over the next 3 years. VoltUp launched three battery swapping stations at BPCL retail outlets in Mumbai. It will also install 150 swapping stations across India by next year in partnership with BPCL. VoltUp aims at populating areas with smart swapping solutions each 3km-4km. It will also be expanding its reach in Mumbai with 40 stations from BPCL and strengthening its presence in Delhi/NCR by installing over 50 stations.

According to the company VoltUp & BPCL will cover 50 top cities, including Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Indore Surat, and Kolkata. These cities have high traffic density, and high demand for rideshare and ride-hail, and last-mile logistics fulfillment. This makes swapping crucial to speed up EV adoption and improves time efficiency.

In the next 3 years, the VoltUp – BPCL partnership will facilitate battery swapping for over 45,000 electric three-wheelers and two-wheelers daily. VoltUp now claims to have 110 stations and over 1300 docks in 10 cities and 8 US states, with the addition of Mumbai.

Delivery agents are choosing to have their two-wheelers powered by swappable batteries, as they can expect minimal downtime and low operating costs. VoltUp, a company that makes electric two-wheelers with interchangeable batteries, has increased its presence in Mumbai to meet the increasing demand. VoltUp is a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS), which provides a single-stop solution to all-electric two and three-wheeler battery swapping. VoltUp provides riders with smart-swappable batteries. This allows them to have a similar experience as petrol refueling. They can swap their batteries in a matter of minutes, which ensures that there is no downtime and eliminates all hassles related to battery issues.

Siddharth Kabra, CEO – VoltUp and Co-Founder – of BPCL said that battery swapping has seen a rise in India’s key cities. Its adoption is due to the low cost of running, virtually no downtime for last-mile delivery agents, and the requirement of minimal space. Battery swapping will play an important role in the adoption and growth of electric fleets in a country such as India, which has a growing delivery fleet of electric two and three-wheelers. For national development, clean energy and sustainability are essential. We are an environmentally conscious company and we want to encourage sustainable smart urban mobility. This will positively impact the lives of future generations.
