Hero MotoCorp will expand its electric-two-wheeler range in the next 12-18 months. According to a senior company official, Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, plans to increase its range of electric two-wheelers over the next 18-24 months to meet demand from multiple segments.
The company has already begun sales of electric scooters under the Vida brand in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Jaipur. It plans to expand the range to other cities in the next fiscal before it launches the new products.
“With the launch of the product in three cities – Delhi, Jaipur, and Bengaluru – where customers are really taking to the product and pre-sales experience with overall sales, we are really ready to now multiply to many cities going into FY2024 to establish ourselves further into the market,” Swadesh Srivastava, Hero MotoCorp Head — Emerging Mobility Business Unit (EMBU), stated during an analyst conference.
Srivastava stated that the company was able to establish the brand in the market during the fiscal year, and now it is time to expand into new markets.
He stated that “We are already going a launch in a few cities within this quarter, and then a much larger nationwide expansion will occur with this product.”
Srivastava stated that the brand has an accelerated product portfolio plan, where products will be coming in different segments.
He noted that the mainstream, or the mass segment, is important. This will allow us to cater to different segments and geographies.
