Uber, the ride-hailing platform, has started its electric vehicle (EV) ride-hailing services in a few parts of Delhi-NCR to expand its services in the country.

As of now, electric vehicle services are only available for pre-booked trips.

According to sources, Uber is working with OEMs, various fleet partners, and charging infrastructure providers to build its EV network gradually.

“As the leading mobility app in India, we are committed to supporting the Indian government’s emission goals. Expect to see more electric vehicles — be they two, three, or four-wheeled across Indian cities in the coming months,” a company spokesperson said.

India is pushing ride-hailing companies to transition to electric vehicles and Uber stepping in will give it an edge against other companies in the market.
