On the Occasion of World EV day, BluSmart – India’s largest fully electric full-stack ride-hailing service and operator of EV charging stations, today marks a saving of 5500 plus tonnes of CO2 which is equal to the impact of 2.5 lakh trees absorbing CO2 in a year, as verified by Verra. On BluSmart, each day 25 tonnes of CO2 is saved which is equivalent to planting 1000 mature trees every day.

In India, the transport sector is the third most CO2 emitting sector, and within the transport sector, road transport (carrying goods and passenger transport) contributes more than 90% of total CO2 and NOx emissions. The transportation sector is also a major consumer of petrol and diesel with a share of 99% & 70% respectively. Delhi is in pollution’s ever-tightening chokehold, the transport sector contributes to a third of all PM 2.5 emissions, causing catastrophic health harm.

Commenting on the same, Anmol Singh Jaggi, CEO and Co-founder of BluSmart said, “It is not new to anyone around the world how climate change is wreaking havoc on this earth. Over the past few months, we have been witnessing recent floods in places like Bangalore and Pakistan. Not only that, but this year IMD declared that Delhi saw a 4.6mm drop in its normal annual rainfall mark. All these signs of climate change are impossible to ignore. India ranks 5th in most vulnerable to climate change globally and it is high time we all wake up and make a change.”

He added, “We see a trend of rapid urbanization in Megacities. Our focus is to solve the pollution challenges of megacities like the Delhi NCR and improve the quality of life of people living in such megacities. EVs are responsible for considerably lower emissions over their lifetime than conventional (internal combustion engine) vehicles. I believe India can adopt electrification strongly and steadily. We have experienced the cost of EVs declining while the range has been on a steady rise. Now anyone can consider buying an EV and reap the benefits.”

Electric Vehicles can play a major role in reviving the economy of India and making Delhi pollution-free. EV adoption in Delhi has increased by 2.5x per four-wheeler. 98% of BluSmart of Customers have experienced EV first-hand with BluSmart. BluSmart is instrumental in accelerating EV adoption in Delhi NCR.

BluSmart today runs 2000 plus EVs on Delhi NCR’s roads. The company has completed 2+ million cumulative trips till now and built an infrastructure of 1600 plus EV charging points in Delhi NCR.
