PMI Electro Mobility Opens Rajkot’s First Ever Electric Bus Depot

PMI Electro Mobility has opened Rajkot's first ever electric bus depot. Bhupendrabhai Patel, Gujarat's Chief Minister inaugurated the depot that covers 17,000 sq. metres.

PMI Electro Mobility, a commercial vehicle maker, has opened Rajkot’s first ever electric bus depot. Bhupendrabhai Patel, Gujarat’s Chief Minister inaugurated the depot that covers 17,000 sq. metres.

PMI developed the electric bus depot. It can accommodate 80 electric buses simultaneously. The depot has 14 DC fast chargers, which can charge an electric bus battery in as little as 55 minutes from 20% to 100%.

23 electric buses were also delivered by the company to Rajkot Municipal Corporation. These buses will be able to travel on Rajkot’s BRTS corridor. A total of 50 electric buses are now in operation by the Rajkot-based manufacturer.

Anurag Aggarwal, Director, PMI Electro Mobility, said, “Rajkot is emerging as one of the leaders in embracing electric mobility in Gujarat. We already have electric buses running in the city and our recently inaugurated electric bus depot will act as a support system to efficiently develop the electric public transportation system in Rajkot.”

PMI’s electric bus depot was developed over 11 months by the company. It has features like DC fast chargers, service bays, and more.

“The e-bus depot has been carefully designed to provide a robust charging infrastructure through 14 DC fast chargers. The depot also has bays dedicated for maintenance and services of these electric buses so as to ensure reliable services to the people of Rajkot” Aggarwal added.

According to the company, it operates over 603 electric buses in more than 20 cities across the country. The electric buses are equipped with safety systems like RTMS (real-time monitoring system) or CCTV cameras that ensure a safe ride for passengers.
