Kia India Inaugurates EV Charger At Incheon Kia In Kochi

Kia India inaugurated India’s fastest charger for electric vehicles (240kWh) at Incheon Kia in Kochi. The company also installed a 150 kWh charger for passenger cars at Gurgaon in July 2022. This charging facility is available at the Kochi dealership for a nominal fee.

Kia India claims it will also “accommodate other OEMs’ charging needs through these charging stations.”

According to Myung-sik Sohn, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India said, “These are exciting times for EVs, and we aim not just to be a part of the mobility revolution of EVs in India but to make EV ownership aspirational, accessible, and inclusive. Our EV journey in India does not stop here. In fact, we are in the process of setting up more charging stations at our EV dealerships across the country, ensuring superior customer experience and reducing the issue of charging time and range anxiety that usually follows EV customers.”

Kia India’s first fully electric car, the EV6 was launched on June 2, 2022. It is based upon the Electric-Global Modular Platform platform (E-GMP). The Kia EV6 has a range of 528km and can be charged in just 18 minutes with a 350-kW charger. Kia plans to launch its India-centric EV in 2025 as part of its EV roadmap.

  1. Installing such DC fast chargers will be capital intensive one with a long gestation no? How the funding is organised ?
Keen to know the model as it will be viable only when more such vehicles are on the road
