Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik flagged off 50 electric rickshaws and 10 electric buses in order to make Bhubaneswar a more environmentally friendly city.
An official stated that the buses each have 30 seats, with women’s reserved seats marked in pink. He stated that the zero-emission electric vehicle will encourage green mobility and pave the way for a sustainable future.
He said that the number of electric buses will rise to 50 in the near future and that the emphasis will be on women’s employment in these operations.
To boost electric mobility, Odisha also decided to give a 15% subsidy on every purchase of electric vehicles according to the Commerce and Transport Department of the state.
