Recently, Kia America announced May sales of 57.941 units. The Niro family, hybrid, and PHEV models posted the best-ever May sales figures, more than 28 percent higher than the 2021 record. The first month of full-scale deliveries of the all new Sportage HEV was a success with 2,417 units being sold. The sales of electrified Kia models grew by 132 percent over the May 2021 record and 5-percent above the March 2022 all-time monthly vehicle sales record.
Eric Watson, vice-president, sales operations at Kia America, stated that Kia’s electrified vehicle and car sales are strong and contributing to Kia’s success in another year. “With the continued popularity and interest in the EV6/Niro and early strong interest in the Sportage hybrid we are confident that we are on target and will continue to build momentum throughout the summer sales season.”
The brand made several important announcements in May, including:
- U.S. News & World Report named the 2022 Kia EV6 Best Electric Vehicle
- Hispanic Motor Press named the 2022 Kia Carnival MPV “Family Vehicle Of The Year” in its 2022 Top Ten Vehicles For Hispanic Car Buyers Ranking.
Announcement of the new 2023 Kia soul will be made later in the summer. It features refreshed design elements, new colours and two technology-filled option packages.
