Power Grid Corporation of India selected Tirex Transmission, a Gujarat-based company, to provide electric vehicle charging solutions for the upcoming deployment of 45 charging stations in India.

This project expands on an existing partnership between both companies. They installed 10 charging stations together in remote areas of northeastern India in 2019.

Tirex Transmission will provide 60 kW DC fast charger units for the Power Grid project. It will supply two combined charging system output connectors, in addition to high-capacity chargers. This will enable drivers to charge their cars simultaneously using shared power. It will also reduce the queues at EV charging stations.

These chargers can be used with all-electric cars in India. Compatible models include Tata’s Nexon, Tigor, BYD’s E6 Hyundai’s Kona and Morris Garages’ ZS. Mercedes-Benz’s EQC and Jaguar’s I-PACE are also compatible.

Tirex Transmission is present in India since 2017 and has over 200 electric vehicle charging stations across India. It has provided EV chargers for organisations like NTPC, Ashok Leyland, etc. It also collaborated with Finland’s Fortum.
