The new ID Buzz and ID Buzz Cargo go on sale in Germany and other European countries starting Friday, 20 May. You can order the zero-emission all-rounder starting at this date, whether you need it as an electric bus for your family, leisure activities, business or delivery vehicle for businesses.

The gross price of the five-seater ID Buzz Pro in Germany is 64,581.30 Euros (in Germany). The gross prices of the ID Buzz Cargo start at 54,430.60 Euros (in Germany). In autumn of this year, the first vehicles will arrive at customers’ homes.

The momentum of Volkswagen’s electric strategy, which aims to offer climate-neutral mobility in all segments, continues to accelerate with the launch of pre-sales. The ID Buzz is the place where the key automotive trends are found: electric mobility, intelligent network of assist systems and software updates over-the-air. The ID Buzz can be used as a companion for everyday use and is both sustainable and economical due to its long ranges and quick charging times. It also allows operation with zero local emissions.

Volkswagen’s ID Buzz adds another model to its successful ID family which includes the ID.3, ID.4 & ID.5 in Europe. It is also increasing the speed of its electric offensive under the ACCELERATE strategy. It is expected that all-electric Volkswagen vehicles will account for at least 70% of Volkswagen’s European sales by 2030. As soon as 2030, the goal is to reduce vehicle CO2 emissions by as much as 40%. The company is on its way to ZERO and plans to be climate-neutral by 2050. The ID Buzz Cargo and ID Buzz Cargo are made at the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Plant in Hannover. They are carbon-neutral when handed over to customers. The vehicles can be charged with 100 percent renewable energy and are therefore already climate-neutral.

In Europe, the five-seat ID Buzz will initially be available in the Pro version. Parallel to the market launch, the ID Buzz Cargo will also be available. The ID Buzz will come standard with the biggest battery in the ID family. The lithium-ion battery has a 77 kWh energy content (82 kWh gross). It also supplies a 150kW (204 PS), rear-mounted electric drive motor with a torque output of 310 Nm. The WLTP consumption is 20.6 kWh/100km (Cargo: 20.4kWh/100km). The range can reach 421 km (Cargo: 424km). The battery can be charged at a DC quick-charging station in 30 minutes. It has a maximum charge power of 170 kW.

The new Plug & Charge function makes DC charging easier: As soon as the customer plugs the charging cable in, encrypted and secure communication according to ISO 15118 between the car’s charging station and the car begins. The authentication process takes only a few seconds before the charging process begins. The We Charge contract allows for billing to function as usual. In 2022, Plug & Charge will become available in the Ionity and Aral, bp. Enel. EON. Iberdrola, and eviny networks.

Electric mobility has many advantages. They are highly efficient and cost-effective. Germany, like many other European countries, offers an electric vehicle subsidy program. Purchase of an ID is now possible. The net price of Buzz is subscribable to an environmental bonus (up to 7,500 Euros). There are other benefits, such as a 10-year exemption from vehicle taxes and significantly lower operating costs with electric power. Also, there is a lower maintenance requirement (no oil changes; comparatively long service intervals) as well as lower German company car taxation.
