American customers will benefit from the American-designed, engineered and manufactured vehicles. As the Volkswagen Group’s iconic Scout brand moves into electric vehicles, an independent, separate company will be set up in the U.S. Next year will see the first prototypes, with production expected to begin in 2026. A new platform concept will allow for electrified Scout brands to be built. It brings new pickup and RUV credibility to the Volkswagen Group portfolio.
Herbert Diess, CEO Volkswagen AG, said “After Volkswagen’s successful turnaround in America, we now have the opportunity to strengthen our position in one the most important growth markets for EVs. Electrification offers a unique opportunity to enter the highly desirable pick-up and RSUV segments as a Group. This underlines our ambition to be a significant player in the U.S”
The R-SUV and pick-up segments are key to increasing profitability in America and achieving the ten percent market share. Volkswagen Group continues to expand its presence in one the most important global growth markets.
Arno Antlitz is CFO Volkswagen AG. “The company that we will create this year will be an independent unit and brand within Volkswagen Group, to be managed separately. This aligns with Group’s new steering model: small units that act quickly and have access to our technology platforms to leverage synergies”.
