Penske Truck Leasing revealed that it had ordered 750 all-electric Ford E-Transit cargo vans. It will take delivery of the first few vehicles within the next several weeks. After successfully piloting the vehicles in late 2013, this move is being made.
“We’re excited to help bring these new vehicles to market as both a rental and full-service lease option for our customers,” said Art Vallely, president of Penske Truck Leasing. “We continue to expand and diversify our fleet of electric vehicles and to offer new options for customers seeking more sustainable choices when it comes to transportation.”
Penske’s first Ford E-Transit vehicles are available in Southern California. Other locations will follow later in the year. As has previously announced, these are the first light-duty electric trucks that Penske will make available in its rental and leasing fleet.
These Ford E-Transit electric zero tailpipe emission vehicles will be available for rental or long-term full-service lease once they are in service. Penske plans to add more units to its network of North American rental and leasing locations over the long term.
As the electric version of the Ford Transit, the Ford E-Transit is North America’s first all-electric cargo van. It is capable of traveling more than 126 miles.
Penske Truck Leasing will exhibit the Ford E-Transit, along with other electric vehicles, at the upcoming Advanced Clean Transportation Expo in Long Beach (California).
