Bolt.Earth, India’s largest electric vehicle charging network, celebrated World Environment Day with a nationwide initiative offering free charging for electric two-wheelers at its Blaze DC fast chargers, encouraging sustainable mobility and cleaner energy usage.
The four-hour campaign, conducted between 12 PM and 4 PM, attracted more than 1,000 charging bookings across over 90 cities, with nearly 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of energy dispensed during the event. The initiative was designed to promote greater adoption of electric mobility while highlighting the importance of accessible charging infrastructure for India’s rapidly growing EV ecosystem.
The timing of the campaign coincided with peak solar energy generation hours in India. By encouraging EV users to charge during this period, Bolt.Earth aimed to align electricity consumption with higher renewable energy availability on the grid, potentially reducing reliance on fossil fuel-based power sources and promoting more sustainable charging habits.
The company also used the campaign to spotlight the critical role of charging infrastructure for electric two-wheelers, which account for the majority of EVs currently operating on Indian roads. While public attention often focuses on electric cars, two-wheelers remain the backbone of India’s transition to electric mobility.
At the center of the initiative was Blaze DC, Bolt.Earth’s universal fast-charging solution designed specifically for electric two-wheelers. The charger’s nationwide network serves a broad range of users, including delivery riders and gig-economy workers, helping reduce charging times and improve operational efficiency.
“As India’s EV adoption accelerates, the conversation must move beyond vehicles and focus equally on infrastructure,” said Mohit Yadav, Founder of Bolt.Earth. “Two-wheelers are at the heart of India’s electric mobility story, which is why we developed Blaze DC as a dedicated fast-charging solution for this segment. By encouraging charging during peak solar hours, we’re demonstrating how purpose-built infrastructure and smarter energy usage can work together to make EV adoption both convenient and sustainable.”
With electric vehicle adoption continuing to gain momentum across the country, Bolt.Earth believes that charging behavior will play an increasingly important role alongside charging accessibility in achieving environmental goals.
The World Environment Day initiative reflects the company’s broader commitment to advancing clean mobility through innovative charging solutions while encouraging EV users to adopt more sustainable energy consumption practices.
