Tata Motors Registers 28% Surge in April 2026 Commercial Vehicle Sales

Tata Motors Limited reported a strong start to the financial year, recording a 28% year-on-year growth in its commercial vehicle sales for April 2026. The company sold a total of 34,833 units across domestic and international markets, compared to 27,221 units in April 2025.

The growth was driven by steady demand across segments, particularly in medium and heavy commercial vehicles (MH&ICV). Domestic sales in this category reached 14,565 units in April 2026, up from 12,093 units in the same month last year. Combined domestic and international MH&ICV sales stood at 15,403 units, reflecting a notable increase from 12,760 units recorded a year earlier.

Based in Mumbai, Tata Motors continues to strengthen its leadership in India’s commercial vehicle market through a combination of product innovation, advanced technologies, and expanding global reach. The company’s consistent performance highlights improving market sentiment and growing infrastructure and logistics demand.

A part of the Tata Group, Tata Motors has built a legacy of over eight decades in commercial mobility. The company manufactures a wide range of vehicles including trucks, buses, pick-ups, and utility vehicles, catering to sectors from last-mile delivery to public transportation.

In a significant corporate development, the company also noted its recent name change from TML Commercial Vehicles Limited to Tata Motors Limited, effective October 29, 2025, following a composite scheme approved by the National Company Law Tribunal. Its shares are listed on both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

With operations spanning India and South Korea, and a presence across Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and SAARC countries, Tata Motors remains a key player in the global commercial vehicle industry.
