KTM has expanded its popular performance motorcycle portfolio by introducing new 350cc engine variants for the KTM 390 Duke and KTM 390 Adventure, aiming to make premium biking more accessible to Indian riders.
The launch leverages India’s 18% GST bracket for sub-350cc motorcycles, enabling significantly lower entry prices. The KTM 390 Duke (350cc) is now priced at ₹2,77,268, while the KTM 390 Adventure (350cc) starts at ₹2,80,905 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Existing 399cc variants across the Duke and Adventure range will continue to be sold alongside the new models.
The new variants retain the brand’s signature “Ready to Race” DNA, offering 41.5 PS of power and 33.5 Nm of torque. KTM has ensured that the riding dynamics, ergonomics, wheelbase, and ground clearance remain unchanged, preserving the performance character that has made these models popular. The Duke continues to target aggressive urban riders, while the Adventure variant blends touring comfort with off-road capability.
According to Manik Nangia, President of Probiking at Bajaj Auto, the move is designed to expand the brand’s reach. He noted that the 390 series has long been aspirational for Indian riders, and the introduction of 350cc variants allows KTM to pass on tax benefits directly to customers while maintaining performance standards.
Industry observers see this strategy as a calculated step to grow KTM’s already strong foothold in India, its largest global market. Since entering the country in 2012 through its partnership with Bajaj Auto, KTM has built a network of over 450 stores and a customer base of nearly half a million enthusiasts.
The updated portfolio now spans multiple engine capacities, starting from the KTM 160 Duke up to the high-performance 390 Duke R and 390 Adventure R (399cc). The addition of 350cc variants effectively bridges the gap between affordability and performance, a segment witnessing rising demand among younger riders.
Globally headquartered in Austria, KTM remains a leader in performance motorcycling, known for integrating race-proven technology into its street and off-road bikes. With this latest move, the company is not only strengthening its product lineup but also reinforcing its long-term strategy of democratizing high-performance motorcycling in emerging markets like India.
The expansion is expected to intensify competition in the mid-capacity motorcycle segment, while bringing a new wave of riders into KTM’s performance-focused ecosystem.
