In a landmark move towards sustainable urban development, EKA Mobility, a leading innovator in electric vehicles and clean mobility solutions, handed over 10 advanced electric garbage tippers to the Sankhali Municipal Council (SMC). The official inauguration was carried out by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, reinforcing the state’s commitment to eco-friendly infrastructure and clean city initiatives.

The deployment, held on World Environment Day, is a significant milestone in Goa’s journey towards sustainable urban waste management. Each electric garbage tipper boasts a top speed of 80 km/h and a range of up to 180 km per charge. Powered by a 32 kWh lithium ferrous phosphate (LFP) battery, the tippers offer a charging time of 6–8 hours and a payload capacity of around 1,000 kg—making them highly efficient for daily municipal operations.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Rohit Srivastava, Business Head & Chief Growth Officer, EKA Mobility, emphasized the importance of sustainability at the grassroots level. “At EKA, we believe sustainability begins at the street level — in the everyday services that define our cities. This deployment with SMC is a model for how municipalities can embrace innovation to serve both people and the planet,” he said.

Ms. Siddhi S Prabhu Porob, Chairperson of SMC, along with former chairperson Ms. Rashmi Dilip Desai, hailed the partnership as a transformative step for the city. “This collaboration with EKA Mobility marks a pivotal moment in Sankhali’s journey towards cleaner, greener governance. These electric tippers will enhance the efficiency of waste collection and reflect our commitment to responsible and progressive urban development,” they stated.

The state-of-the-art vehicles are designed with advanced telematics, zero tailpipe emissions, and reduced noise pollution, setting a new standard for environmentally conscious municipal operations.

This initiative places Sankhali at the forefront of sustainable civic management and underscores Goa’s broader environmental vision — leading by example in clean mobility and responsible governance.
