Terra Charge has announced a strategic partnership with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to set up electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs at major airports across the country, starting with Raja Bhoj International Airport in Bhopal. This initiative marks Terra Charge’s first collaboration with AAI and represents a significant investment in expanding India’s public EV charging infrastructure.

The new Japanese technology-enabled park and charge facility at Bhopal Airport will cover an area of 75 square meters, providing space for four EVs to charge simultaneously. The hub will initially feature one slow charger and one 30 kW fast charger, catering to electric two-wheelers (E2W), three-wheelers (E3W), and four-wheelers (E4W). Both public and commercial fleet owners will have access to the charging hub around the clock.

Terra Charge has invested INR 15 lakh in the Bhopal Airport project, demonstrating its commitment to enhancing public charging networks. The company plans to complete four additional airport projects under this partnership by the end of the current quarter.

Akihiro Ueda, CEO of Terra Charge, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “Our partnership with the Airports Authority of India is a groundbreaking step for us. Starting with the EV charging infrastructure at Bhopal Airport, which experiences high footfall daily, we aim to meet the growing demand for EV charging and contribute positively to the city. This project underscores our dedication to environmental sustainability and enhancing the EV charging experience for users in and around Bhopal.”

While Terra Charge has not specified an exact launch date, the charging station is expected to become operational within the next 45 to 60 days. Users can locate the new charging station via the Terra Charge Mobile App, available on Android and iOS platforms. The company is also advancing similar projects in other key locations across India.
