Ola Electric Files Patent For Removable Battery, Revolutionizing EV Technology
Ola Electric has filed a design patent for a removable battery intended for use in electric vehicles. The patent showcases a cylindrical design with a grab handle at the top, resembling other swappable batteries currently available. Unlike Ola’s current electric scooters, which use fixed batteries, this new swappable battery could be incorporated into the brand’s upcoming electric three-wheelers. Swappable batteries are predominantly used for commercial purposes, with few exceptions such as Hero-owned Vida, which incorporates this technology in its electric two-wheelers. Bounce also employs swappable batteries in its e-scooters. Generally, the primary application remains commercial; for example, Yuma Energy uses them for last-mile electric two-wheelers, and Honda has developed its own swappable batteries for electric three-wheelers in certain regions of the country.
