After much anticipation and a series of teasers, Ather has officially launched the 450 Apex at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.89 lakh. Positioned as the epitome of the current platform’s capabilities within safe thermodynamic limits, the 450 Apex promises an exciting leap in electric scooter technology.

Equipped with the same 3.7kWh battery pack as the 450X, the 450 Apex boasts an impressive claimed IDC range of 157km, attributed to the introduction of a new regenerative braking system. A unique feature named ‘Magic Twist’ allows riders to slow down the e-scooter by twisting the accelerator 15 degrees backward without applying the brakes.

The motor on the 450 Apex delivers a peak power of 7kW and stands out as the sole Ather e-scooter to feature the Warp+ mode. In Warp+, the company asserts an impressive 0-40kph acceleration time of 2.9s, along with quicker 40-80kph times compared to the 450X. Notably, the 450 Apex is the only Ather EV capable of reaching a claimed 100kph in this high-performance mode.

Retaining the dimensions of the 450X platform, including seat height, wheelbase, tyre sizes, and ground clearance, the 450 Apex introduces a new enclosed belt drive system, soon to be standard across all Ather models.

While the overall design remains consistent, the 450 Apex features a distinct Indium blue color for its body panels, with the rear panel transparent to showcase the chassis finished in a vibrant orange color.

Priced at Rs 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom, xx), the Ather 450 Apex commands a premium of Rs 21,000 over the top-spec 450X with the 3.7kWh battery and Pro pack. Co-founder Tarun Mehta describes this model as more of a passion project than a commercially targeted venture. Production is limited to demand, with Ather planning to manufacture the 450 Apex until October 2024. Bookings are open starting today, and deliveries of this flagship Ather model are scheduled to commence in March 2024.
