Defense PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd has unveiled an innovative electric ferry named ‘Dheu’ with a 150-passenger capacity for the West Bengal government.
The vessel, designed to run solely on battery and solar power, aims to replace traditional diesel-run ferries, offering a green alternative for water transport.
Constructed with ergonomic features, including air-conditioned comfort for passengers, twin screw propellers for enhanced maneuverability, and a catamaran aluminum hull allowing speeds of up to 10 knots, the electric ferry incorporates solar panels for additional power supply. The vessel is set to undergo trials before its delivery to the West Bengal government.
