Gogoro Introduces Battery Swapping System in India Alongside Debut of Locally Manufactured CrossOver Smartscooter

Gogoro Inc. (Nasdaq: GGR), a leading global technology company specializing in battery-swapping ecosystems for sustainable urban mobility, has announced the immediate availability of its battery swapping ecosystem and Smartscooters in India. Alongside this launch, Gogoro unveiled its first India-manufactured Smartscooter, the CrossOver GX250.

Initially targeting B2B customers in Delhi and Goa, Gogoro plans expansion to Mumbai and Pune by the first half of 2024, with consumer availability expected in the second quarter of the same year.

Horace Luke, the founder and CEO of Gogoro, emphasized India’s significant potential, with over 250 million mopeds and motorcycles, positioning the country to lead in sustainable transportation. The CrossOver series, including the CrossOver GX250, has been tailored for Indian riders, boasting enhanced seating space, storage options, and improved ground clearance.

The CrossOver series, built on an all-terrain frame, promises increased comfort, customizable features, and ample storage. It will be released in three models: CrossOver GX250, CrossOver 50, and CrossOver S, with the GX250 available immediately and the others slated for a 2024 release.

The CrossOver GX250, manufactured in Maharashtra, India, integrates India-specific features based on feedback from Gogoro’s pilot riders in the region.

Highlighted Features of the CrossOver GX250:

  • All-Terrain Chassis: Designed for varied road conditions, providing enhanced rigidity and stability with 176mm of ground clearance.
  • Performance and Control: Equipped with a 2.5 kW Direct Drive, offering a top speed of 60+kph and a certified range of 111km. The new frame design ensures durability of the suspension system while prioritizing comfort and stability.
  • Flexible Cargo Capacity: Adaptable for various riding scenarios, offering multiple storage options with a mounting point expansion system and four cargo areas, accommodating diverse storage needs.

The CrossOver GX250 received certification from India’s International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) and was acknowledged by the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), enabling it to participate in EV financing programs.

Gogoro’s focus on enabling sustainable electric transportation for last-mile delivery riders and consumers aligns with its battery swapping ecosystem, recognized for its safety, scalability, and availability. Gogoro aims to cater to diverse market needs, partnering across business categories:
