In a strategic move aligned with Singapore’s commitment to hydrogen-driven decarbonization, Hyundai Motor Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Poh Tiong Choon Logistics Limited (PTC) to advance hydrogen-based mobility within the country.
The collaboration aims to explore and cultivate business prospects within Singapore’s hydrogen ecosystem. Hyundai Motor Company, a global frontrunner in energy transition, and PTC, a prominent Singaporean logistics service provider, plan to combine their expertise and resources for a comprehensive hydrogen ecosystem spanning production to utilization.
Specific areas of focus include the development of projects, commercial vehicles, and business models revolving around hydrogen-based initiatives, extending beyond mobility solutions.
The Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS), inaugurated on November 21, will serve as an innovation hub, supporting Singapore’s ambition to achieve 50 percent hydrogen utilization in power generation by 2050. This smart urban mobility center aims to drive advancements in the hydrogen domain.
PTC, established in the 1950s and revered for its extensive business network in Singapore, seeks to introduce hydrogen mobility solutions to transition towards a more eco-friendly logistics approach.
Hyundai’s commitment to hydrogen-based initiatives extends beyond Singapore, with recent endeavors in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The company’s XCIENT Fuel Cell truck, launched in 2020, has demonstrated success in six countries, accumulating over five million miles, validating its real-world application and technological reliability.
These collaborative efforts underscore Hyundai Motor Group’s persistent dedication to pioneering sustainable energy technologies on a global scale.
