GreenCell Mobility’s electric tourist bus service, NueGo, is set to operate on local routes in Tamil Nadu, as announced by the state government. NueGo, backed by GreenCell Mobility, has gained distinction as the first battery-operated transport vehicle to receive registration in the state, complying with the government directive for permits issued by the transport department.
According to the Industries department’s social media post, GreenCell’s NueGo battery-operated buses will soon be a familiar sight on local routes within Tamil Nadu.
The CEO of GreenCell Mobility, Devndra Chawla, expressed pride in this achievement, highlighting the company’s dedication to contributing to a greener and more sustainable transportation future, facilitated by the government’s progressive policies. Currently serving the Chennai-Tirupati and Chennai-Puducherry routes, NueGo has plans to extend its operations across Tamil Nadu.
Being the first inter-city electric tourist bus service in India, NueGo has rapidly positioned itself as a leader in the sustainable mobility sector, prioritizing advanced technology to provide a safer and more environmentally friendly travel alternative for tourists.
These electric buses possess the capability to cover 250 kilometers on a single charge, even while operating with air-conditioning in traffic conditions. To ensure top-notch safety standards, the coaches undergo rigorous inspections, encompassing both mechanical and electrical aspects.
GreenCell Mobility’s establishment has been supported by Eversource Capital, a climate impact investor jointly formed by the Everstone Group and Lightsource bp, a global leader in solar energy project development and management.
