Torrent Power Launches Electric Vehicle Charging Stations In Ahmedabad

Torrent Power Ltd. (TPL), a prominent electric utility, has taken a significant leap into the Electric Mobility Infrastructure Sector, marking the beginning of a greener and more sustainable future. With the launch of four Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations in Ahmedabad and two more in Surat on the horizon, TPL aims to drive the adoption of electric vehicles and reduce emissions, contributing to improved air quality in cities.

The inauguration of the four EV Charging Stations took place at Torrent Power’s office in Prahladnagar, Ahmedabad, with Mr M Thennarasan, Commissioner of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, leading the event. Also present was Mr Robert Demann, Executive Vice President of Siemens India and Smart Infrastructure Head for South Asia at Siemens Ltd., showcasing the collaboration between TPL and Siemens to develop the EV Charging network.

The move towards a comprehensive EV charging network is vital in eliminating range anxiety and encouraging more people to embrace electric vehicles. By providing a reliable and accessible charging infrastructure, Torrent Power aims to make the switch to electric vehicles easier for the public.

Locations of the Public EV Charging Stations in Ahmedabad include Prahladnagar (near Prahladnagar Garden), Naranpura (Torrent Power Naranpura Office), Drive-in Road (near Saurabh Society), and Raipur (opposite Raipur Darwaja Bus Stand, near Railway Station and ST Bus Stop).

The company has installed 3 DC Fast chargers of 60KW each in Prahladnagar, Naranpura, and Drive-In-Road, capable of charging two vehicles simultaneously. Additionally, a 22 kW AC charger is available at Raipur in Ahmedabad. The charging locations and details are accessible through Torrent Power Customer Portal and the statiQ App.

To promote affordability and encourage usage, TPL offers charging at an attractive rate of Rs. 12 per unit, among the lowest in the city. As a special incentive, the company also provides a 20% discount on the first charge for a limited period.

Through this strategic venture, Torrent Power endeavors to create an extensive and convenient EV charging network, supporting the transition to cleaner and sustainable transportation for all.
