Volvo Car India has achieved a significant milestone in the luxury EV segment, with its XC40 Recharge capturing 25% of the market share during the first half of 2023. As per the Government of India’s Vahan portal, the XC40 Recharge sold 241 units between January and June 2023, making it a leader in the luxury EV space.
Since its launch in July 2022, the Volvo XC40 Recharge has gained popularity, and the company has successfully delivered approximately 365 units of the electric SUV since November 2022.
The XC40 Recharge is powered by a twin-motor setup, generating 402 hp and 660 Nm of peak torque. Its 78 kWh battery pack provides a claimed range of up to 418 km on a single charge (as per WLTP), and the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds. With a fast charger (150KW), the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in around 28 minutes.
Volvo is backing the XC40 Recharge with a three-year warranty, a three-year Volvo service package, 3-year RSA, and an 8-year battery warranty. Additionally, customers receive a 4-year digital service subscription and an 11 Kw wall box charger with the locally-assembled luxury electric SUV.
Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director of Volvo Car India, expressed pride in the XC40 Recharge’s market share and its success coinciding with the first anniversary of the Pure Electric XC40 Recharge launch. Looking ahead, Volvo remains committed to achieving a fully electrified vehicle portfolio by 2030 and has already introduced the C40 Recharge as part of this mission.
