Stellantis, the multinational automotive manufacturer, has allocated an electric van to its Mangualde plant in Portugal to support its leadership in light commercial vehicles in Europe. The new electric van is part of the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility and reducing its carbon footprint.

The Mangualde plant is one of the largest production facilities for light commercial vehicles in Europe, with a capacity of 60,000 units per year. With the addition of the new electric van, the plant will be able to produce a wider range of sustainable vehicles, strengthening Stellantis’ position as a leader in the European market.

The electric van, which will be produced in Mangualde, is based on Stellantis’ latest technology platform, providing customers with a combination of advanced features and sustainability. The van is expected to be available for sale in select European markets later this year.

“The allocation of this electric van to the Mangualde plant is a significant step in our commitment to sustainable mobility and reducing our carbon footprint,” said Carlos Tavares, Stellantis CEO. “Our investment in this plant highlights our commitment to the European market and to providing our customers with innovative and sustainable vehicles.”

Stellantis has been investing heavily in electric and hybrid technology, with a goal of having electrified versions of all of its models by 2025. The company has also committed to achieving carbon neutrality across its operations by 2040.

The allocation of the electric van to Mangualde is part of Stellantis’ broader efforts to reduce its environmental impact and support the transition to a more sustainable future. The company is actively working to reduce its emissions and improve the energy efficiency of its operations, while also investing in renewable energy sources and supporting the development of sustainable mobility solutions.

The new electric van is expected to play a key role in Stellantis’ efforts to meet its sustainability goals, while also helping the company to maintain its leadership position in the European light commercial vehicle market.
