Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister, stated that 100 electric vehicle charging stations will be installed in the capital within two months.
To encourage the adoption of Electric Vehicles, the Chief Minister installed 11 high-tech, low-cost charging stations.
Kejriwal stated that Delhi had created the most affordable model in its class by providing 11 electric vehicle charging stations. It would cost just 7 paise/km to drive an electric two-wheeler after it is charged here, 8 paise/km for electric three-wheelers and 33 paise/km for electric four-wheelers.
“100 charging stations will be up and running in two months with 900 charging points, as well as 103 swapping stations. We had established the EV policy to ensure that EVs are 25% of all vehicles bought in Delhi by 2024. However, we have already reached 10% in just two years,” Kejriwal stated.
“In August 2020 we launched the Delhi EV Policy, which aimed to make Delhi the EV capital in India,” said the Chief Minister. He added, “We hadn’t expected such a huge response to this policy.”
“The goal of making EVs 25% of all new vehicle sales by 2024 was very ambitious when we first notified the policy. But, Delhi has demonstrated what can be done if the government is determined to achieve its goals for serving the people over the past two years.
Delhi is the state that has seen EV adoption rates rise by double digits in the past two years. It averaged 10% in 2022, and it even exceeded it during the same period. Kejriwal claims that over 70,000 EVs were purchased in Delhi in the past two years.
