Audi, a German luxury car manufacturer, will focus exclusively on electric vehicles by 2033. It will also cease making cars that run on internal combustion engines (ICE) from then on, a top official stated.
Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, stated that the auto giant would cease production of current models powered with ICE and will transition to selling only electric vehicles starting in 2033.
Dhillon stated that all existing models with petrol engines would be manufactured by the company and sold until 2032 to facilitate the transition to electric vehicles.
Responding to a question about battery-operated vehicles going up in flames, the expert said that all components were brought separately and assembled at the factories using trained professionals who had the highest regard for safety and quality.
He said that the pre-owned car showroom Audi Approved plus was the 17th of 22 outlets planned to open this year.
He said that Audi India had reported a 101% increase in sales for 2021 compared to the previous year. During the first six months of 2022 (January-June 2022), it saw a jump by 49%.
