Okinawa Autotech, an electric two-wheeler company to establish its manufacturing facility in Karoli, Rajasthan. The company already has facilities in Alwar and Bhiwadi and this will be its third facility in the state.
This manufacturing facility will be spread across 30 acres of land and Okinawa plans to invest around Rs 500 crores in this unit. The plant will start its operation in October 2023 and it will employ over 5,000 workers.
This new manufacturing facility will have automatic manufacturing units for powertrains and batteries with controller and motor plants. Okinawa will also establish automatic paint shops for two-wheelers and the plastic body parts will be moulded by machines.
Okinawa wants to accelerate the production to meet the rising demand of electric two-wheelers in India. Currently, the company has seven different variants of electric two-wheelers in the country and over 1,50,000 vehicles on roads.
Jeetender Sharma, Founder and MD, Okinawa Autotech, said, “The R&D facilities planned in the mega factory will be futuristic to ensure we meet the sector’s demand ahead. The factory will not only concentrate on the manufacturing of vehicles. It will also have a supplier park that will take account of motor, controllers, battery packs and other electrical parts meant to support the complete EV ecosystem.”
