Every commercial building with a floor area greater than 20,000 square feet in Kolkata must now provide at least one electric vehicle charging station.
Firhad Hakim, Transport Minister, stated that the rule would be enforced in order to encourage electric mobility as well as create an ecosystem for electric vehicle charging stations. He spoke at Vision 2030’s launch, which accelerated a net-zero transition for public transport.
Electric mobility is essential for a better tomorrow. Hakim stated that it is also financially rewarding after the sharp rise in petrol and diesel prices.
In an effort to reduce vehicle pollution, the state also plans to add 2,000 electric buses and convert at least 3,000 diesel-powered buses into CNG-powered vehicles within the coming years.
