Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha recently took a ride on the electric bus of Olectra Greentech. The E-buses are on a trial run for intra-city and inter-city transport facilities.
Arun Kumar, AGM, Sales and Marketing, Olectra Greentech Ltd, briefed the Lt Governor about the functioning, features, and technical aspects of the bus during the ride.
Olectra K6 electric bus has a seating capacity of more than 24 and with a single charge, it can cover a range of 160 km. The bus also has many features including a public announcement system, smart ticketing, GPS, emergency stop, 2 USB ports per seat, air conditioner, etc.
The Lt Governor said, “The J&K government is committed to provide quality transport facilities to the public in the UT and said that the unprecedented augmentation of the public transport system will boost revenue generation as more and more viable and lucrative routes will be included in the operational network of transportation.”
“Depending upon the trial outcome, the government will decide the future course of action for inter-city and intra-city transport facilities and 150-200 e-buses would be introduced in the transport sector soon in a phased manner,” the statement said.
