
Simple Energy which is a Bengaluru-based electric vehicle startup, announced that it will launch its first flagship e-scooter, code-named Mark2, on 15th August this year. The electric scooter will make its debut in Bengaluru in the first phase, which will be followed by Chennai and Hyderabad. It has plans to expand to other cities as well later on.
The company has its manufacturing facility as well as its R&D unit in Bengaluru.
The e-scooter’s prototype version Mark1 was ready last year; however, it has now developed the production variant which is based on the prototype.
Suhas Rajkumar, Founder and CEO of Simple Energy said that they are thrilled to be launching their e-scooter on August 15 as it is a significant milestone for the nation. On the same lines Simple Energy aims at creating history with a world-class product made by an Indian company. The company expects the Covid situation to get better by Mid August and hence the schedule.
This new e-scooter will have a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery with a claimed range of 240 km in eco mode and top speed of 100kmph. The pre-bookings will begin from the launch day itself, followed by the deliveries soon. The price will be in the range of Rs 1.10 lakh-Rs 1.20 lakh.
Apart from the launch, the company is looking to raise Series A funding of USD 15 million (Rs 112 crore) in the third quarter of this year itself. Also, it is looking to deploy charging stations in Bengaluru prior to the launch.
