Will Delhi’s Electric Vehicle Policy Help Improve The Air Quality?

In order to address the air quality issues of Delhi, the government has approved the long-awaited Delhi Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy recently. The policy’s first draft was released in November 2018. This policy aims to achieve improvement in the air quality and create an entire supply-chain ecosystem for this new segment of vehicles. The policy plans to execute 25% of all new vehicles to be battery-operated vehicles by 2024.

eBikeGO Planning To Add 25,000 Scooters To Its Fleet Aiming For A Pre-Series Fund Of Another $2 Million To Fund This Expansion

eBikeGo has an eye on capturing 5 per cent of the commercial two-wheeler market by 2021. The rental platform has evolved from 640 users in 2017 to 18,000 users by 2019. The planning to increase its fleet by 25,000 scooters will soon be going for a pre-series fund of another $2 million or Rs 14 crore to fund this expansion. The eBikeGO bikes deliver a top speed of 55 km/hr and it can run upto 100 kms per charge. eBikeGo hopes to increase the tie ups to 69 companies this calendar year with a fleet of 30,000 EVs delivering the parcels.

Ampere Vehicles Partners With E-Commerce Player BigBasket

Ampere Vehicles, a manufacturer of electric scooters makes its entry into the ecommerce segment through a deal with grocery app BigBasket. It has also entered into a deal with App-based scooter rental startup Bounce, in order to execute their scooters for ride share. Ampere has a growing business vertical supporting its range in tie-ups with schools, hospitals and real estate companies for its range of electric vehicles. BigBasket has agreed to bring in Ampere Vehicles by February, hitting key cities such as Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad in a phased manner. According to the Chief Customer Experience Officer of BigBasket, 70 paise per Km including the charging cost, electric vehicles are definitely a cheaper option.

Bajaj Launches Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter In India Priced From Rs. 1 Lakh

Bajaj Auto launches Chetak Electric Scooter, to be available in two variants Urbanite and Premium, priced between Rs. 1 Lakh to Rs. 1.15 Lakhs (ex-showroom) respectively. The booking of this vehicle will commence on January 15, 2020. Sales of the e-scooter will commence in Pune and Bengaluru at the initial phase through the existing Probiking network with KTM. Bajaj Chetak e-scooter is powered by a 3kW electric motor that churns out 16 Nm of torque. The lithium-ion battery of the scooter comes with a 3 year/50,000 km warranty. This battery is claimed to have a life of 70,000 km.

Mercedes – Benz Unveils EQ Brand In India

Mercedes-Benz, a German automaker has unveiled the EQ brand in India, a dedicated electric mobility wing of the company. The company has announced that it will be launching the EQC, the automaker’s first car under the EQ brand, in April 2020. Mercedes-Benz has already started production of its first electric car EQC under the EQ badge, with a range of 400 km on a single charge. The German luxury carmaker also quoted that by the end of this quarter, 45 percent of its energy requirement will come from renewable resources, which will be made possible with the installation of over 4,000 solar panels. With this step, Mercedes-Benz India will be able to produce around 1.6 MW every year and reduce 2,600 tons of CO2 per year, claims the company.

Mahindra To Revive The Electric Mobility Strategy

In a recent press conference, they announced that they are focusing on the upcoming eKUV with a range of 130 kms as it focuses on shared mobility. It was a ā€˜turning it onĀ  head’ moment wherein Goenka in one statement pre-empted any range related questions where the company has been seen as lacking, compared to competition. This coupled with a few more initiatives in the electric vehicle space will smartly reinvent itself, say experts. With the e2o Plus already discontinued, and its eVerito not really setting the cash registers ringing, the company is seen playing a catch up game.

Fisker Ocean Electric SUV To Be Launched In India By 2023

Fisker Inc. a US based electric car automaker made an announcement that it will be launching its brand new Fisker Ocean Electric SUV in India by 2023 or early 2024. As per the reports, the US electric car automaker will be launching its brand new vehicle in the US next year, followed by other markets including India, Europe and China. Moreover it plans to assemble, manufacture and export the electric SUV from India, which will assist in delivering a sustainable and affordable premium electric vehicles (EVs) to the Indian consumers.

Volvo Plans to Launch Its First Electric Vehicle In India In 3 years

Volvo, Swedish luxury car company, is planning to launch its first fully electric car, the XC40, in India in late 2021 or early 2022. It is built on the compact modular architecture platform (CMA), the XC40 is presently being sold in india in petrol version. The sports utility vehicle (SUV) is the smallest of the three SUVs Volvo sells in India. It is also one of Volvo’s best-selling products in India, contributing to 25 percent of its sales.The company recently discontinued the diesel engine. The XC40 electric will be launched in Europe later this year.
