Ford Motor Company has once again solidified its position as the top American automaker in terms of vehicle assembly, exports, and employment of hourly workers, according to the latest data from S&P Global Mobility.

For the sixth year in a row, Ford has earned the title of No. 1 American automaker, highlighting its dominance in the automotive industry. The company assembled over 1.8 million vehicles in the U.S. in 2023, outpacing its nearest competitor by 130,000 vehicles. This impressive figure includes the best-selling F-Series truck franchise, comprising gas-powered, hybrid, and electric pickup trucks, all manufactured at plants across Michigan, Missouri, Kentucky, and Ohio.

“Ford is a uniquely American company,” said Andrew Frick, president of Ford Blue. “We are proud to serve our customers with vehicles that embody the best of American innovation and ingenuity.”

Ford’s commitment to American manufacturing is evident in its workforce numbers. The company employs approximately 57,000 hourly manufacturing workers in the U.S., more than any other automaker. To support the growing demand, training is underway for a new third crew at the Michigan Assembly Plant, which will produce Bronco and Ranger vehicles, including nearly 900 new hires.

In addition to its manufacturing prowess, Ford and Lincoln maintain a robust network of over 2,800 dealerships across the U.S., contributing significantly to local economies and job creation.

Exporting American-made vehicles is another area where Ford leads the industry. In 2023, the company exported 260,000 vehicles, including the F-150, Bronco, and Mustang, to countries such as Canada, Mexico, China, Puerto Rico, and South Korea. This means that one in every seven vehicles assembled by Ford in the U.S. is destined for international markets.

Overall, more than 79% of Ford vehicles sold in the U.S. are assembled domestically, the highest percentage among all automakers. This achievement underscores Ford’s commitment to American manufacturing and its role in supporting the U.S. economy.

Ford’s continued leadership in vehicle assembly, exports, and employment reflects its enduring legacy and dedication to American craftsmanship and innovation.
