Ola Electric has announced a major shift in its go-to-market strategy by opening its sales and service network to dealer partners across India, marking a significant change from its company-owned retail model introduced when it launched its first electric scooters five years ago.

The company said its company-owned stores played a key role in building consumer awareness and trust in electric vehicles, helping establish a customer base of more than one million EV two-wheeler riders. As the domestic EV market matures, Ola Electric plans to transition these stores into brand and product experience centers, while dealer partners will lead local sales, service, and market expansion.

According to the company, the move follows extensive engagement with dealers across the country over the past month. Ola Electric said the response has been positive, with dealers expressing confidence in the company’s expanding product portfolio and its potential to accelerate EV adoption in local markets.

Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal said the new strategy reflects the evolution of India’s EV industry. He noted that while company-owned stores were instrumental in establishing consumer confidence during the early stages of EV adoption, dealer partners are better positioned to expand the company’s reach into towns and neighborhoods across the country.

Ola Electric said dealer partners will benefit from the company’s established brand presence, a recurring service opportunity supported by its installed base of over one million customers, and access to a portfolio that includes electric scooters, motorcycles, and energy products such as Ola Shakti, with additional energy offerings planned. The company added that the dealer model has been designed to deliver attractive returns for partners.

The company expects the dealer network expansion to achieve meaningful on-ground scale by Diwali 2026.

Separately, Ola Electric announced that B.V.R. Subbu, former President of Hyundai Motor India, will rejoin the company as Senior Advisor to support the execution of the dealer-led expansion strategy. Subbu previously served on Ola Electric’s board and has been a mentor to Bhavish Aggarwal.
