Zelio E-Mobility has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, expanding its production footprint in South India and increasing its total installed manufacturing capacity by 33% to 2.4 lakh electric two-wheelers annually.

Located on Trichy Road in Coimbatore, the 39,000 sq. ft. facility will support electric scooter assembly, storage, logistics, and related operations. The plant will primarily serve southern markets, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and South Maharashtra.

The new facility has an installed production and assembly capacity of 60,000 units per year. During the initial phase, Zelio expects to manufacture between 24,000 and 30,000 electric two-wheelers annually, with production expected to scale in line with market demand.

The company said the Coimbatore plant will strengthen its dealer network, improve after-sales service, and enhance supply chain efficiency across southern India over the next 12 to 24 months. The facility currently employs 30 workers, with plans to add more than 100 employees in the coming months as part of the company’s goal to exceed 500 employees during the current financial year.

Established with an investment of up to ₹1 crore, the facility will manufacture electric two-wheelers from Zelio’s existing product portfolio, with details of upcoming models to be announced later.

“The launch of our Coimbatore facility marks a major milestone in Zelio E-Mobility’s growth journey. South India represents one of the most promising electric mobility markets in the country, and this expansion strengthens our ability to serve customers, dealers, and partners with greater speed and efficiency,” said Kunal Arya, Managing Director of Zelio E-Mobility.

Before the commissioning of the Coimbatore plant, Zelio E-Mobility’s manufacturing network included facilities in Ladwa and Patan, Haryana, and Cuttack, Odisha, with a combined annual production capacity of 1.8 lakh units. The addition of the new facility increases the company’s total installed manufacturing capacity to 2.4 lakh units per annum.

The expansion follows the company’s strong financial performance, with revenue increasing 81.8% year-on-year to ₹313.68 crore in FY2025-26. Zelio E-Mobility said it continues to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities and dealer network, which currently spans more than 400 dealerships across 25 states, with plans to expand to over 550 dealerships by FY27.
