Tata Motors Launches Next-Generation Portfolio of 17 Trucks, Expands Electric and Safety-Led Offerings

Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has launched its next-generation portfolio of 17 trucks spanning 7 to 55 tonnes, marking a major step in the evolution of India’s trucking industry. The new range introduces the all-new Azura series, the expanded Tata Trucks.ev lineup, and significant upgrades across the Prima, Signa, and Ultra platforms.

The newly launched trucks are engineered to meet stringent global safety standards, including ECE R29.03 crash norms, and are designed to improve transporter profitability through higher payload capacity, enhanced fuel efficiency, reduced total cost of ownership, and improved vehicle uptime.

The launch event was led by Girish Wagh, Managing Director and CEO, Tata Motors Ltd., along with senior leadership from the company’s trucks and engineering divisions.

Commenting on the launch, Wagh said India’s logistics sector is undergoing rapid transformation driven by infrastructure growth, progressive policies, and rising demand for safer and more efficient transport solutions. He noted that Tata Motors’ next-generation portfolio reflects the company’s focus on innovation, localisation, sustainability, and customer-centric design, aligned with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Azura Series Debuts in ILMCV Segment

Tata Motors showcased the all-new Azura range, designed specifically for the intermediate and light commercial vehicle (ILMCV) segment. Powered by a new 3.6-litre diesel engine, the Azura series is offered in 7 to 19-tonne configurations and targets applications such as e-commerce, FMCG distribution, construction materials, agriculture, and regional logistics.

The Azura range focuses on driver comfort, productivity, and reliability, with features aimed at reducing fatigue and maximising uptime.

Enhanced Safety Across Truck Portfolio

Tata Motors has upgraded its entire truck lineup—including Prima, Signa, Ultra, and Azura—to comply with ECE R29.03 global crash safety standards. The cabins are designed to withstand frontal, rollover, and side impacts and are equipped with up to 23 advanced active safety technologies, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and collision mitigation systems.

Safety is further enhanced through real-time driver behaviour monitoring via Fleet Edge, Tata Motors’ connected vehicle platform, positioning the company as the only Indian manufacturer to implement this international safety benchmark across its truck range.

Focus on Profitability and Fleet Efficiency

Engineering upgrades across the portfolio have increased payload capacity by up to 1.8 tonnes and improved fuel efficiency by up to 7%, driven by advanced powertrains including the 6.7-litre Cummins diesel engine. Tata Motors has also introduced Fleet Edge Priority, offering predictive analytics, real-time vehicle health monitoring, and intelligent trip management tools to improve fleet uptime and asset utilisation.

Tata Trucks.ev Expands Electric Truck Portfolio

Accelerating India’s transition to green logistics, Tata Motors unveiled a comprehensive electric truck range under the Tata Trucks.ev brand, built on the new J-MOEV (Intelligent Modular Electric Vehicle) architecture. The electric portfolio spans 7 to 55 tonnes and is designed for applications across urban logistics, construction, mining, and port operations.

The Ultra EV range, available in 7, 9, and 12-tonne configurations, targets zero-emission urban and regional transport. The Prima E.55S electric prime mover delivers 470 kW of power with a 453 kWh battery, while the Prima E.28K electric tipper is designed for heavy-duty mining and construction applications.

The electric trucks feature high levels of localisation, advanced battery management systems, and indigenously developed EV components, supported by customised financing solutions and a growing nationwide charging ecosystem.

Comprehensive Customer Support Ecosystem

Customers will also benefit from Tata Motors’ Sampoorna Seva 2.0 service ecosystem, which includes 24×7 support, assured spare parts availability, Fleet Edge connected services, annual maintenance contracts, driver training programs, and tailored financing options.
