Audi’s China-exclusive sister brand AUDI has unveiled the exterior design of its upcoming AUDI E7X, a fully electric premium SUV developed specifically for Chinese consumers. The E7X will make its global debut at Auto China 2026 in Beijing, ahead of its market launch in the first half of 2026.
The production model draws heavily from the AUDI E SUV concept showcased at Auto Guangzhou 2025 and represents the second model from the AUDI brand after the E5 Sportback. Tailored for China’s fast-growing EV segment, the E7X integrates Audi’s engineering DNA with SAIC’s strong digital ecosystem capabilities.
Fermín Soneira, CEO of the Audi–SAIC cooperation project, described the E7X as an “SUV without compromises”, highlighting its confident stance, sporty proportions, and practical everyday usability.
Progressive EV Design for Tech-Driven Chinese Buyers
The E7X exhibits a bold exterior defined by clean surfaces and Audi’s characteristic light signature. Its upright front features vertical digital Matrix LED headlights housed in a black wraparound frame. Strongly sculpted wheel arches, short overhangs, and a dynamic roofline enhance its premium, athletic look.
With dimensions of 5,049 mm (length), 2,002 mm (width), 1,708 mm (height), and a 3,060 mm wheelbase, the E7X offers a spacious, lounge-like interior aimed at families and urban premium buyers.
Two electric powertrain configurations—300 kW and 500 kW—promise strong performance for the upper-tier Chinese EV SUV segment.
Built on a China-Focused Digital Platform
The E7X is developed on the Advanced Digitized Platform, co-created by Audi and SAIC. The architecture is designed for next-generation intelligent connected vehicles, supporting deep integration with China’s digital services and mobility apps.
The cooperation allows development teams in China and Germany to work jointly, significantly reducing product development timelines.
Strengthening Audi’s EV Play in its Largest Market
Introduced in 2024, the AUDI sister brand (styled in capital letters without the classic four rings) is aimed at expanding Audi’s reach in China by offering tech-centric models positioned alongside the global Audi lineup.
The E7X continues this strategy, combining:
- Audi’s signature driving dynamics and premium build
- SAIC’s software, connectivity, and localization strength
The SUV is designed for China’s particularly tech-savvy EV consumers, a rapidly expanding demographic driving the world’s largest electric vehicle market.
The AUDI E7X will premiere at Auto China 2026, scheduled from April 24 to May 3, 2026, in Beijing.
