Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd. (SAVWIPL) has achieved a major milestone in its 25-year journey, crossing the 2 million local production mark amid its strongest commercial momentum to date. The accomplishment comes as October 2025 emerged as the Group’s best-performing month in six years, reinforcing India’s growing strategic importance within the Volkswagen Group’s global manufacturing network.
The landmark figure includes more than 500,000 vehicles manufactured on the India-developed MQB-A0-IN platform. Built by local engineering teams, this platform underpins key models such as the Škoda Kushaq, Slavia, Kylaq, and the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus — all of which have significantly contributed to the Group’s recent surge. Notably, the last 500,000 units were produced in just 3.5 years, reflecting sustained domestic demand for globally benchmarked, locally engineered products.
Škoda Auto India recorded its highest-ever 10-month sales performance with 61,607 units sold in 2025, more than doubling year-on-year. Volkswagen India also reported strong momentum, witnessing its best-ever monthly sales for the Virtus during Diwali, securing over 40% share in the premium sedan segment over 40 months.
The Group’s luxury and super-luxury brands have bolstered its market presence. Bentley India consolidated its operations under SAVWIPL, with new showrooms launched in Mumbai and Bengaluru. Porsche India added over 4,400 customers in the last six years and expanded to 13 sales points nationwide. Audi celebrated multiple achievements, including a 5% rise in Audi Approved: plus sales and expanding EV charging infrastructure with over 6,500 charging points under its Charge My Audi initiative. Lamborghini India continued its strong performance with record deliveries in 2024, completing its hybrid transition with the launch of the Temerario.
Commenting on the milestone, Piyush Arora, CEO & Managing Director, SAVWIPL, said the achievement reflects the Group’s confidence in India’s potential as both a market and a manufacturing hub. “The 2-million mark is the outcome of consistent investment in people, technology and local capability. It speaks to the exceptional trust Indian customers place in our six brands,” he said.
Exports remain a key pillar of SAVWIPL’s operations, with more than 700,000 vehicles shipped to markets across Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, further strengthening India’s positioning as a global export hub under the vision of ‘Made in India, Driven by the World’.
SAVWIPL operates two major facilities in Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, supported by an investment of nearly €600 million in the Pune plant to boost volume and localisation. With strong local engineering and global technological support, the Group aims to make India a cornerstone of its future mobility roadmap.
To maintain its competitive edge, SAVWIPL is now intensifying cost optimisation, increasing localisation, and enhancing market performance — initiatives designed to make the Group more agile, efficient, and strategically positioned for long-term growth in India.
