In a move sure to energize electric vehicle enthusiasts, General Motors has officially announced the return of one of its most beloved models — the Chevrolet Bolt. The 2027 edition of the Bolt, now equipped with next-generation EV technology and advanced connectivity, will once again redefine affordability in the electric car market.

Priced from $28,995 (including destination fees), the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt LT offers the most driving range of any EV under $30,000, with a GM-estimated 255 miles per charge. The new Bolt will begin shipping to customers in early 2026 as a limited-run model, joining the Chevrolet Equinox EV to reinforce the brand’s leadership in accessible electric mobility.

The Chevrolet Bolt was the industry’s first affordable, long-range EV and earned one of GM’s most loyal customer bases,” said Scott Bell, Vice President, Global Chevrolet. “The Bolt is coming back—by popular demand and better than ever. This is a celebration of what Bolt means to our customers and to Chevrolet.

A Smarter, Faster, More Capable Bolt

The 2027 Bolt introduces a host of modern enhancements:

  • 255-mile range and 150kW+ DC fast charging, charging from 10% to 80% in just 26 minutes.
  • First Chevrolet with a native NACS charging port, offering access to more public chargers.
  • Super Cruise driver-assistance technology and over 20 standard safety features, including Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Braking and Intersection Collision Mitigation.
  • 11.3-inch infotainment display with Google built-in, offering apps like HBO Max, Angry Birds, and Prime Video.
  • Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) bidirectional charging capability.

Efficiency Through Innovation

Underneath its familiar hatchback silhouette, the new Bolt packs GM’s advanced X76 electric drive unit, delivering 210 horsepower and 169 lb-ft of torque. The system, designed in-house, uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries for lower costs and higher durability.

GM engineers have optimized regenerative braking, ensuring smooth transitions and maximizing energy recovery—even when drivers don’t engage One-Pedal Driving mode.

Technology Meets Comfort

Inside, the 2027 Bolt features a driver-focused, minimalist interior with an 11-inch driver display and wireless phone charging. A redesigned dashboard integrates both physical and digital controls for intuitive use, while an available panoramic sunroof enhances cabin space and light.

Streaming and gaming take center stage with OnStar Connectivity and Google Play apps, transforming charging stops into entertainment breaks.

Designed for Everyday America

With an estimated 255-mile range and support for home charging options up to 11.5kW, GM says the new Bolt meets the needs of the average U.S. driver, who travels about 42 miles daily. For emergencies, its Vehicle-to-Home capability allows it to power a home through the GM Energy Home System.

Built in the Heartland

Production of the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt will take place at GM’s Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas, using both domestic and global components. Deliveries are expected in the first quarter of 2026.

With its blend of affordability, range, and cutting-edge tech, the 2027 Bolt marks GM’s renewed push toward democratizing electric mobility — giving drivers a powerful reason to plug in.
