Tata Motors and DIMO Launch 10 New Trucks & Buses in Sri Lanka, Marking 65 Years of Partnership

Tata Motors, in collaboration with long-time partner Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO), has expanded its commercial vehicle portfolio in Sri Lanka with the launch of 10 new trucks and buses, strengthening its leadership in the island nation’s mobility sector. The launch also marks 65 years of partnership between the two companies.

The new lineup is designed to cater to diverse needs across logistics, infrastructure, and passenger transport. Among the highlights are the Ultra series trucks (T.7, T.9, T.12, T.14, and 1918.T) for intra-city and last-mile logistics, and the Prima 5530.S and Signa 5530.S prime movers for long-haul transport. On the passenger side, Tata Motors introduced the LPO 1622 Magna bus for intercity travel, along with the Ultra Prime LPO 8.6 and LPO 11.6 buses for efficient staff mobility.

Unveiling the new vehicles, Girish Wagh, Executive Director, Tata Motors, said:

Backed by DIMO’s six-decade partnership, we are confident these offerings will set new benchmarks in the country’s mobility landscape.”

Ranjith Pandithage, Chairman of DIMO, emphasized the enduring collaboration:

To support the new range, DIMO is offering 15 strategically located service centers, extended warranty packages of up to 3 years/300,000 km, and customized Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMCs), ensuring reliable operations and cost efficiency.

Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle portfolio spans from sub-1-tonne mini-trucks to 71-seater buses, with sales across 40+ countries. The company said its latest Sri Lankan offerings reflect its focus on durability, safety, and total cost efficiency, while reinforcing its global mobility leadership.
